Garden Tender
Part-structured, part-improvised sonic performance at an experimental music and arts festival.
I was invited to perform at Active / Passive Vol. 5 at Yellowhouse Arts Centre on August 12th and 13th, 2023 on the shared stolen and unceded traditional territories of Penelakut, Lamalcha, Hwitslum, and other Hul’qumi’num speaking peoples as well as the ceded territories of Tsawwassen First Nation, on what is now known as Galiano Island British Columbia. Active / Passive festival includes a two day long “slow concert” featuring creative, experimental, singular and exceptional performances in a natural amphitheatre.

In this performance I used a modular synthesizer, Elektron Octatrack sampler, and PolyBrute polyphonic synthesizer to sonically embody the persona of a gardener who nurtures mystical relationships with their growing patch of circuited machines.
